Skins for -=UP* community

Hello everybody !

I wanted to know if somebody could realise some cool skins for -=UP* community ?

{S.o.W}DeathMask could maybe make them ?

I'm waiting for your answer !

You need:
1)To tell me which models you want the skins to be made for;
2)How many faces do you need (or how many members are there);
3)List how do you ALL want the skin to be;
4)Let me insert my face inside the skin pack and make it available to SonsOfWar as well.
5)Take a look at utdemo.freeforums.org (wanted to put direct links to my skin images, but I can't do that yet, so you're going to search for them);
6)Wait some time (from 1 to 5 days max, depends on how much time and will I have at my disposal).

DeathMask, for me it is no trouble: I wish you to put the "Thirty-Eight" face you've made for me in your Cyber-Eyepatch skin in -=UP* SkinPack. Name it "ThirtyEight". As for the body, I wish a SonsOfWar style armor, just grey though, instead of your typical red and black. Thank you

Ooh, AlchemY. You underestimate me. That's the thing I always did for SonsOfWar SkinPack. And that is exactly the same thing I wish to do with your pack, with the difference that there will be my face as well. Plus (like my clanpacks), there will be "public" faces, useable for the others. As for the clan ones, I'll puclish a separate file which will unlock them, so you won't have any kind of problems regarding non-clan members using your clan faces.

I'll gather all the informations taken here and will start working on Saturday with what I got. As for the rest, it'll be all under my discretion. Take note of it

Ok so what you think about putting -=UP* in the front of the skin and the name in the back ?

I can put -=up* in the back if you want, but putting every single name too means to make loads of bodies and textures in addition, without calculating the team colors, so I'm just putting the -=UP* (With UnrealTournament Font) in the back (I did it yesterday). In other words, I think your idea isn't very good, with all due respect: it'll just occupy useless KBs for a little detail (honestly, isn't the face a good enough signature?). I started from blue team, as I think that blue is going to be also the basic color, unless someone wants differently.

Bad news:

I have finished all the necessary textures and faces...but I didn't take note on an important fact: palettes.

Palettes are used to define the colors in an image, but its color limit cannot get over 256 colors. Most of the textures I created overcome that limit.

What happens if that limit gets exceeded?

It's simple: You have your texture, but it's extremely low quality, with all those little points all over the texture (disturb). This happens when the exceeded part isn't read, and it is replaced by the most similar palette.

How to fix it?

Reducing the colors. The most efficient solution is to make some parts grey, with absolutely no saturation.

That's what I'm going to do. I'm reducing saturation and turning many details into grey. I hope to keep as most colorful as possible the textures. By eliminating all the useless details and turning into grey some particulars.

This means that you're gonna have to be patient and wait some more days. This part might be even longer than creating the textures themselves.

I'll make as quickly as possible.

Updates:

I'm finishing compiling textures and team colors (all 4 team colors available), and it's turning out acceptable.

I made my best to reduce the disturb effect, and since now the disturb are extremely rare and just barely noticeable with the highest level of detail settings in UT, like some of the original textures. I'll post an image when finished, and will send to ALchemY666' the files to be installed in the server.

Estimated time left: 2 days max. 3 in worst cases. 1 in my opinion. Today, if all goes excellent.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have just finished the Skin Pack.

It contains 3 models (Male Soldier, Female Soldier, Male Commando), with 4 team colors, and 5 faces each model.

Male Soldier: Default 1, Default 2, ReFkO, ThirtyEight, and Bonus Content - {S.o.W}DeathMask.

Female Soldier: Bagadou, Default 1, Default 2, Nicka, Warzsy.

Male Commando: AlchemY666', aZ.Boy, Default 1, Default 2, yoyo.

Basic color (Team=none, T_255) is BLUE (Identical to Blue team textures, T_1).

I tested PERSONALLY all the skins and faces, and they work fine. All of them, including chat textures.

The skin can be used on your server as soon as AlchemY666' will install it on your servers.

Too bad I didn't post the screenshot as I promised: I'm just tired and don't want to rerun UT for the 123235234th time to take 15 screeenshots and build them together in one picture, so you're going directly to play with it.

Where to download the SkinPack?

For now, ask AlchemY666' or me. I'll think about publishing it somewhere soon. Or AlchemY666' will.
